Many laboratories prepare their red cell panels (ABO, 3 cell screen and identification) on a daily basis.
The presence of sodium azide will ensure that little or no bacterial contamination occurs but will itself bring about the death of the cell. Such panels should be replaced daily. This can be a tiresome task but by using Source BioScience RCSS to wash and re-suspend the red cells it is possible to use them over a period of at least 4 weeks. During the storage period red cell antigen integrity will not be compromised and the added antibiotics will help ensure that bacterial growth will not be a problem. The reagent contains buffering salts, antibiotics and essential sugars to create a suitable solution for red cell storage. Red cells suspended in RCSS can be used in slide, tube, and gel techniques.
This reagent can be provided in bags or bottles.
